Green Cleaning
Toxic cleaning chemicals threaten the health of the workers who use them and the children and adults who live or work in the buildings where they are used. Certain cleaning chemicals have been linked to asthma, some cancers, reproductive problems, stillbirths, and birth defects, but healthier alternatives are available and already being used by some companies, schools, and consumers.

In 2007, Governor Jodi Rell signed Public Act 100, requiring that all state buildings use certified green cleaning products. Since then, some municipalities across the state have decided to adopt similar standards for their schools and municipal buildings, which are not covered by the Act.
